Children of Reverend Timothy Stillman
and Mary Ann (Edwards) Abell

daughter of Mosley W. Abell and Ruth Baldwin

Founder of the Presbyterian Church in Dunkirk, NY where he came in 1830. Graduate of Yale University and Auburn Theological Seminary.

OBITUARY from Fredonia Censor, Dec 12, 1885:
DEATH OF DR. STILLMAN
The Rev. Dr. Timothy Stillman died last evening at his home on Suffolk St. after an illness of several weeks. The end came peacefully, the vital functions being worn out. There was no organic affection, death being more the result of old age.
With Dr. Stillman one of the oldest and most prominent residents of Dunkirk passes away. He was known through this city and throughout this region as few other men have been. His figure was familiar to every citizen, and his absence from the streets of late, on account of the encroachment of weakness, has been generally felt.
Rev. Mr. Stillman came to this county from the theological seminary at Auburn, in 1829, as did also Rev. David Gregory, D.D., who supplied the pulpit of the First Presbyterian Church of Fredonia for several years. Through the labors of Dr. Stillman the Presbyterian Church and Society of Dunkirk was organized May 22d 1830, and on September 1, following, Mr. Stillman was installed as its first pastor. He remained in this connection for 8 years, when he resigned, to take charge of the Bethel Mission among seamen, supported by the Presbytery of Buffalo. He was early chosen Stated Clerk of the Presbytery, and held that responsible position nearly 40 years, only resigning when the infirmities of approaching age prevented his discharge of the duties connected with the office.
Dr. Stillman was in the 84th year of age, his birthday occurring in April. The funeral will be held on Sunday at 2:00, at the residence, Mr. Martin officiating.

Chautauqua County Atlas, 1867:
Timothy and Mary Ann lived on the W. side of Center Street between 8th and 9th. This is now the site of St. John's United Church of Christ
