Mills - At Welton, IA., Jan. 13, 1899, Mr. Samuel T. Mills, aged 74 yr. 6 mo, 6 days.
Mr. Mills came from NY to OH thence to WI early in life & in 1873 to Ashland twp., in this county, where he resided many years. In 1846 he was married to Miss Sarah Greene. To them were born 9 children; Mrs. E. A. Sanford, Mrs. E. P. Sanford, Mrs. E. L. Sanford & Mrs. W. L. Greene, who resides here at Dodge Center, Rev. Nathan Mills of Westerly, RI., Mrs. Lucy Armstrong, of Mpls., Rev Orpheus S. Mills of Richburg, NY., Mr. Rolla Mills of Hammond, LA., & Mrs. Dora Linnel of Annaville, MN. His wife died in 1883 & is interred in Riverside cemetery. In 1886 Mr. Mills was again married to Mrs. O. P. Hull, of Welton, IA. All of the children except 2 sons were present at the funeral services which were held at the SDB church of Dodge Center last Sunday, sermon by Eld. H. D. Clarke. Interment in Riverside Cemetery.

Addie Mertie Mills, was born Apr 25, near Berlin, WI., one of 7 children in the family of Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Mills.
In the spring of 1862 the Mills family immigrated to Ashland twp. Dodge Center, MN where the children all grew up.
She was baptized Jan. 1869 & became a member of the SDB church in which she remained a most loyal & Christian worker until the time of her death.
Oct. 10, 1874, she was married to Wallace L. Green of Wasioja, by pastor Zuriel Campbell. Three sons were born to this union Fred W. of Bryon, Mack C. of Dodge Center & Orpheus S. of Stewartville, MN. Besides these, she brought up from babyhood, her grandson, Lester, also of this place. The children have lovingly cared for her during her many illnesses & especially during this last most trying one.
Mrs. Greene was a loving wife & mother, a kind, thoughtful & helpful neighbor; she was always willing & anxious to help others in time of sickness being especially experienced in the use of nature remedies prayers of M/M Greene, who [error in the obit]
Mrs. Greene died of paralysis following a stroke, Mar 24, being nearly 80 yr. of age. Besides her 3 sons & Lester, she leaves 6 grandchildren, Clifford & Walter, Wallace & Clare & Audre & William Greene all present at the funeral, also 2 brothers, Orpheus S. Mill of Attalla, AL; Rolla J. Mills of Hammond, La & 2 sisters, Mrs. Lucy Armstrong of Mpls.; & Mrs. Matie Sanford of this place. Her husband preceded her in death Dec. 28, 1921.
There is a wide circle of relatives & friends who will miss her kind & thoughtful neighborliness & love, her presence in the church & prayers to those she loved. Her family is rich in memories of her unselfish Christian life.

Green - Addie Mertie, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Samuel Mills, was born Apr. 2, 1855 near Berlin, WI., & died at Dodge Center, MN., Mar. 24, 1935.
She was baptized in Jan. 1869, becoming a member of the Dodge Center Church, of which she remained a member through life. She married Wallace L. Green, Oct. 10, 1874. She is survived by 2 sons; Fred W. of Byron; Mack C. of Dodge Center; & Orpheus S. of Stewartville; and a grandson, Lester of Dodge Center, who she brought up from babyhood. She also leaves 6 other grandchildren; 2 brothers, Orpheus S. of Attalla, AL, Rolla J. of Hammond, LA., & 2 sisters, Mrs. Luch Armstrong, Mpls., MN, & Mrs. Elmer Sanford of Dodge Center. Funeral was conducted by Pastor Charles W. Thorgate, Albion, WI.
