Effie married William George Brookfield Ritchie 6.4 1905; WGBR was the nephew of either (as I believe) Sir Richmond Thackeray Willoughby Ritchie - an important figure in Indian affairs circa 1880-1910 - or (just possibly) his elder brother. Sir Richmond married his godmother, Anne Isabella Thackeray, daughter of the novelist William Makepeace Thackeray, who was also a cousin of his father and 17 years older.
Effie was born in London at the Shrubbery, Clapham, the Spartali family home. She and William GBR had three children - sons. Effie died age 39, 18.8.1911 from heart failure after the third birth, but her underlying problem was tuberculosis. WGBR remarried. The three sons married and fathered nine children between them - of whom two at least are living in England - one of whom I know personally.
