Police remember fallen officers

The Henrico Division of Police held its annual memorial ceremony May 10 at memorial park by the Western Government Center. Family and friends of the eight county officers to have been killed in the line of duty paid their respects at the police memorial, with family members placing flowers on a wreath.

In memory: Lewis Ray Beddow, 1946; Welford Early Green, 1948; Jerry Edwin Trimmer, 1966; Barry Wayne Maham, 1978; Donald Aubrey Stillman, 1984; John Patrick Harris, 1994; William Herman Edwards III, 1998; Andre Gerard Booker, 2003.

Henrico County Police officers who knew Donald told me that he was shot and killed in the line of duty. He was chasing after a man who had just assaulted a woman. The man shot him. Ironically, the man turned out to be an acquaintance of Donald's. Donald's family still lives in the Henrico County area. Each day I drive on Stillman Parkway and pass a small scenic area called Stillman Park. It is dedicated to the memory of Officer Donald Stillman. Provided by Nancy Rusinak, Richmond, VA
