Notes

David Mordechai ben Maeir graduated Yeshiva College in New York City. He served as Head Counselor of Camp Massad (a Summer camp in New York State) for several years. He received his MD from the University of Ottowa Medical School. He, and his brother
Hillel, changed their last name to Maeir, to honor their father, Rabbi Maeir Lifshitz - who died when they were children. After serving as a Professor of Pathology at Einstein Medical School in New York City, in 1968 David was appointed Director
General of Shaarei Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem. With his vision and guidance the Shaarei Zedek Medical Center was conceived, and brought into fruition. He continued to serve as its Director until 1983. He was a member of the Jerusalem City Council, a
Director of Bar Ilan University, a founding member of the Society of Law & Medicine, & a Board Member of the Trust For The Planning & Development of Services For The Aged in Jerusalem. His life was cut short when he died from injuries sustained when an
automobile hit him while crossing the street in front of his house.
