Tarleton, Richard, Newcastle, married 2nd in 1692 - Ruth Stileman. Constable 1694, 1695; juror 1695; court judge 1697; grand juror 1699. Lists 66 (Tarrington), 96, 315abc. See Horne (3). Drowned 18 Mar. 1705-6 at launching of a ship at Captain Fernald's yard in Kittery. Ruth's will, 4 January - 4 March 1707-8, left home and Stileman heirlooms to minor children, made provisions for her husband's daughter by his 1st marriage, if she came from England, contingent legacies to cousins Ruth Langsford of Salem and Mary Atkinson of Newcastle, and appointed Mr. John Emerson and Theodore Atkinson Esq. trustees, [p.673] the latter and his wife to bring up the two youngest children. Children: Elias Tarleton, b. 13 Aug. 1693, married Mary Randall; taxed in Portsmouth in 1727; signed petition for setting-off Rye 1724. He died, age 95, in 1785 (newspaper of June 3).
